Friendly Writing Challenge, Week 32

Prompt: Sweet
Fandom: Arilas Legion of Super-Heroes

AN: still trying to get into the proper mindset for these guys so.. This may be a little *too* fluffy.

Dove settled down, draping her long legs over the arm of one of the plush sofas in the breakroom. It had been a long week and she was dying to get some nice relaxing in before she got thrown back into the case that was the life of a Legionnaire - not that she regretted joining in the slightest. She loved what she did - but there were times she just craved some quiet, if only to silence all those voices rattling about in her head. She yawned a moment, trying not to fall victim to the siren's call of sweet sleep but it was just so hard not to do so...

-

Timber Wolf silently made his way in, his golden eyes drifting about the room before focusing on the figure on the sofa. An amused smile crossed his lips as he made his way over - ah, his little bird (and of course, he didn't want it to sound too possessive but, well, he did like partnering up with her...) and she looked so peaceful. "Oh, Lilla," he said quietly, stroking a lock of long dark hair off her face before carefully scooping her up, trying not to wake her. He smiled as she snuggled closer in her sleep.

Dove opened her eyes slowly and smiled up at him. "Hey, Brin," she sleepily murmured, a small content yawn escaping her. "Cuddles?"

Timber Wolf quietly chuckled. "Later. Right now it's time for all good little birds to get in their nests and sleep."

Dove managed to pull off a sleepy glare - which only made his chuckle grow a bit deeper. "I should hit you and Imra. Her for giving me that name and you for that bird joke," she grumped, quietly sulking.

Timber Wolf just chuckled.

Friendly Writing Challenge, Week 31

Prompt: Glitter
Fandom: Timeless  Jewel Riders

Tamara brought her hand up to shield her eyes at the suddenly blinding sparkly lights. "Gwen?" she asked, finally managing to look at her friend without feeling like she was going to go blind. "Did you fall in a vat of glitter?" she asked.

Gwen said nothing before pointing at a male figure who was approaching. "Blame him," she bit out.

"Well, you said you wanted to glitter at your party tonight," the male drawled before noticing that one of Gwen's friends was rising up, very slowly and slowly, oh so painfully slowly, making her way over to him. He swallowed a lump down. Oh hell. "Hello, sister," he said, wincing.

"Half-sister," Celise bit out before smacking the back of his head. "Really, Mordred? A glitter spell? Who taught you that one?" she asked before regretting she asked - the name coming unbidden to her. There was only one person she knew of that would have a spell like that in his vast magical library. "Oh, no, you didn't ask him, did you?" she asked, her voice coming out with a slight whine. "You know what Father thinks of him."

"Well," Mordred began before summoning a small crystal and twirled it over his hand. "Perhaps. Life does get rather boring."

"Him who?" Tara asked, drawing Mordred's attention to her.

"A certain royal that we are not going to name because he'd think it was an invitation and we really don't need his madness tonight," Celise said, fixing her half-brother with a deadly look. "Right, Mordred?"

"You would spoil my fun," Mordred pouted, clearly having intended on inviting a certain Fae to the party. Anything would improve the stuffy celebrations these people seemed to enjoy.

"And don't even think about offering anyone a peach. I still can't believe Merlin allowed you to study under that glittery ass," Celise grumbled under her breath. Even if it would be vastly entertaining - and she mentally smacked herself for thinking that way. Nope, that way lead to madness that they did not need.

Mordred out and out laughed. "Oh, you are too easy to rile these days, sweetling. You definitely need to get a lover."

Celise choked.

"So, I'm assuming that this charming gentleman is your cousin Mordred, Gwen?" Tamara asked. "Which side of the tree again?"

"Father's," Gwen said, glowering at her male cousin. "Fix this," she demanded.

Mordred merely smiled a smile that only promised more mischief...

[AN: once again, I regret *nothing*. The unnamed Royal Fae that both Celise and Mordred referenced is a certain Goblin King, who definitely thinks that Tara reminds him of the babe with the power...]

Friendly Writing Challenge, Week ?/Birthday Giftfic

Prompt: Kiss
Fandom: Naruto
Bonus: Birthday fic

Itachi let out a weary sigh as he noticed the little chit in front of him. Now, he knew he should think a little higher about her - after all, there was that document that their clans signed years ago, but.. But it was just so bloody hard to think favorably of a girl who bested you in combat more times than he would admit to counting. "What do you want?" he bit out, his voice trying to sound more annoyed than it really was. Damn the girl and her ability to set his libido alight.

"Well, your head on a stake for starters," Yuuna said with a grin, her blue eyes twinkling darkly. "But since that doesn't seem like it'll happen any time soon..."

Itachi badly concealed a shudder at the thought - especially since he wasn't quite sure which head she was referring to. And he really needed to stop thinking about that female [the little voice in his head that sound suspiciously like his mother was pointing out that he wasn't getting any younger and he really needed to think about continuing the clan...]

Yuuna grinned at that. Score one for her at managing to unsettle the Uchiha brat she was engaged to - and she really needed to know what the fuck her parents were thinking when they signed the marital contract. Sure, he was hot - but he was a murderous asshole of epic levels.

Itachi barely managed to avoid the tossed kunai, hissing as it grazed his cheek and sunk deeply into the tree behind him. "So, you'll just settle for blinding me instead," he drawled. "Cute."

"Aren't I?" she retorted, striking a pose before throwing another kunai at him, only to pout when he deflected it with one of his own. "Not bad."

That earned a decided 'hn' from the rogue nin before he leapt and moved in for a hopefully fatal blow - at least, that was the plan, but.. He cursed as he fell victim to one of the oldest tricks in the nin book - the shadow clone. Or, water clone since she was a water nin.. Or was it still a shadow clone regardless of.. His mental ponderings came up short when he felt a pair of lips crash against his own. Okay.. this was ...New.. Not entirely unwelcome but..

[I may add more later - I just don't want LJ to eat this again]

Friendly Writing Challenge, Week 17

Prompt: Branch
Fandom: Jewel Riders

AN: reference here: http://strongheartmaid.livejournal.com/134238.html?thread=1346910#t1346910 And part of Fern'verse

Of all the things Drake had ever planned for that day - getting stuck in a tree with the crown princess of Avalon was decidedly not one of them. The day he had planned did not entail them running for their lives from some mutated beast that wandered in from the Burning Deserts (which meant some foreign kingdom was missing one of their creatures and hopefully would send someone to retrieve it.. hopefully). The day he had planned was a nice quiet picnic, just the two of them relaxing and enjoying their time together before Gwen would have to step into her role as High Queen, due to her parents going on one of their rare vacations. But no, that beast had to make its way there and dismantle all of his carefully laid out plans.

"You know, while we're alone, Drake, we could kiss," Gwen said, swinging her legs back and forth as she sat on the branch next to him. It was a light-hearted attempt at trying to pull away from the obvious wrongness of the situation. She was a Jewel Rider - she didn't turn tail and run.. But.. In this case, she was more than willing to make an exception.

Drake glanced briefly at her, not quite picking up on the hint that his lover was giving him as he studied the creature below them. He clenched his hand tightly, feeling the curse (which they had taken to calling whatever it was that began after his last healing attempt of the earth) rippling beneath his skin.

Gwen sighed and glanced skyward. That abomination wasn't going to anywhere for a while and neither of them were getting any younger. She wordlessly tapped his shoulder and captured his lips with her own when he turned to look at her. She smiled warmly at him, taking mild amusement in his look of irritation before she noticed something that made her blood run cold.

Friendly Writing Challenge, Week 15

Friendly Writing Challenge, Week 14

Prompt: Kissing the wrong person
Fandom: any

1) Biker Mice from Mars: Throttle/Kaisa (Throttle has the assumption that Kaisa is Vinnie's girl, hence why he thinks he's the wrong person)

Friendly Writing Challenge: Week 12

Prompt: Baby
Fandom: Naruto

Sachiko honestly could feel her left eye twitch when she walked in her front door and saw her only son, babbling away, blissfully unaware that he was pinned to the wall by his diaper with one of his father's kunai acting as the pin. She turned slowly to look at her husband (who should have seen the warning signs that read 'don't do this because you will completely piss off your wife and you don't want to do that' and failed to see them) and silently gestured with her left hand at their son. "Start. Explaining," she bit out through clenched teeth.

"I needed some way to keep the baby where I could see him while I worked," Sasuke said, idly shrugging.

"And if the diaper tore," she continued, her voice fairly frosty. "What then?"

Sasuke gestured down at the floor beneath their son - where Kiba's dog had taken up as his sleeping spot. "He'd land on the dog."

Sachiko spun on her heel and stormed out of the house, not trusting herself not to say something that would have her questioning her husband's genius level intellect. She slanted a glance to Yuuna as she saw her in passing. "Think you could send Itachi over for some lessons?"

"Sasuke did something stupid," Yuuna said, not bothering to make it a question.

"He pinned our son to the wall by his diaper with a kunai."

Yuuna vainly tried to keep the snickers suppressed.

Friendly Writing Challenge: Week 11

Prompt: Vault
Fandom: Disney Princess (Pirates)

Inra rubbed the key between her fingers, her green eyes focused on the vault before her. "So," she began, slanting her gaze after a moment over in the direction of the prince who, maybe, technically, owned the vault they were standing before, "you mean to tell me you honestly have no idea what's in the vault?" she asked.

"None," Eric said, running a hand through his jet black hair. "I tried to ask Grimsby but you know that man can talk about everything and nothing and manage to not say a damn thing important."

"Tsk, tsk," Inra admonished. "Be nicer to your staff." She paused a moment, a thoughtful expression crossing her features. Maybe, whatever was hidden in the vault would hold answers to questions about his past that he was unaware of. "Maybe we should wait until Belle and Adam get here," she offered, subtly shooing Ariel out with a nod of her head, sending the former mermaid scrambling to retrieve the pair of French royals (who may or may not [which depended on who you asked] be pirates and had gotten involved with a few misadventures with her).

"Maybe," Eric agreed. "Still, I wonder what my parents may have been hiding," he said quietly, a chill working it's way down his spine.

"Whatever it is," Inra said quietly. "We'll face it together, as a family," she said.

"As a family," Eric agreed, reaching over to take her free hand in his. A wry smile crossed his lips. "So, do I refer to Delaney as my future brother or sister in law?" he asked, in attempt to make conversation while they waited.

Inra snorted. "Even I'm not sure of that question and I'm related," she said.

"I'm hurt," Delaney said, grinning widely at his little sister as he walked in with a less than pleased Adam and a thoroughly amused Belle. Jack came behind them, a mildly traumatized look on his features. "And I even brought the rest of the family with me."

Inra smirked. "You'll get over it," she teased.

Belle cleared her throat. "Shall we get on with it and see what mysteries are going to be answered today?" she asked, her accent soft and mellow.

"You better Beast out," Eric murmured to his cousin. "Just in case."

Adam tilted his head back, the annoyed expression still on his features. "Fine," he said, his accent much coarser than that of his future wife's. "Just remember that you owe me."

"I know," Eric said, placing a hand on his cousin's arm. That bitch that had him cursed was going to pay - someday. They'd make sure of it.

Adam closed his eyes and allowed the curse to flare to life, his frame growing in size and bulk, his hands and feet becoming paws..

Belle bit her lower lip as she watched him suffering once more. She placed her small hand on his massive arm once the transformation was over.

"You know, that gets more unpleasant every time we witness it," Delaney said, willing his stomach to stay settled.

"Gets more unpleasant every time I do it," Adam, or rather, Beast countered. He glanced down at Belle and placed his massive paw on her much smaller hand, a pained expression reflecting in his still all too human blue eyes. "Ready?" he asked quietly.

She nodded before turning her attention to Inra. "We're ready," she said.

Inra nodded and placed the key into the lock and slowly turned it...

[ending here for now]

Friendly Writing Challenge, Week 10

Prompt: Music
Fandom: Timeless [lords/ladies; vampires; and/or Hellsing]

Asher picked up a glass of something red and swirled it before he took a long sip from it. His eyes followed the figure of the high king - apparently dancing to music that only he could hear and with someone who wasn't there. He glanced over at Ciana, gesturing with his free hand. "Has your brother lost what little sanity he still possessed?" he asked, a cultured accent coloring his voice.

Ciana frowned to herself, nursing her own drink. "Not sure, probably," she sighed. "I'm so not going to look forward to this discussion with Sir Hellsing," she muttered. "Stupid Protestant bitch."

That earned an arched eyebrow from Asher. "Shouldn't that be bastard?" he asked.

"Nope. Sir Hellsing is a female. Don't ask me why they call her a Sir, I can't be bothered with human politics. Our own politics are more than enough for me to deal with," Ciana said, a wry smirk crossing her lips as she watched Asher nearly choke on his drink.

-

"I miss you, my darling," Alucard said, his right hand clutching tightly the ghostly hand of his beloved wife as he guided her once more through a waltz.

The princess consort's ghost let out a soft sigh but a look of affection crossed her features. "I know."

"If I could bring you back.." he said, his voice trailing off.

-

Ciana's eyes narrowed as she finally glimpsed the figure of what her brother was dancing with. She hissed an old Wallachian curse at the sight. "I need to have a long talk with his little blackbird." Raven was not going to weasel her way out of the family by allowing the ghost of her brother's long deceased wife to slip back into his life.

Friendly Writing Challenge, Week 9

Prompt: Lies
Fandom: Naruto
AN: post series

Sachiko was quite grateful for the black mask that covered the lower half of her face - it made it so much easier to hide the amused smile that was forming as she stood before the genin she was supposed to be training. It felt strange, to be in the role of jonin instructor, to be on the other side, but Father said the feeling would go away in time.

"You're late," the only girl of the trio grumbled, crossing her arms over her chest.

Sachiko said nothing, just turned the page in her book before closing it quietly. "Ah," she began, falling back to the lies her father had used when she was a genin. "I must have gotten lost on the road of life," she said, her lips twitching upwards.

Yuriko glowered at her sensei, clearly not as amused by Sachiko's response as her two companions had been.

"Oh, lighten up, Yuriko," Akihiko said, shaking his head in amusement. Sounded like Mama was cribbing from Grandpa Kakashi again. Hopefully she wasn't going to do the same test Grandpa Kakashi used - he really hated that bell test.

Yuudai nodded in agreement. "It could have been worse," he said. "We could have been stuck with dobe's father."

Sachiko's lips again twitched in an amused smile as her son turned to give Naruto's son a flat look. "Teme," he retorted. "That's my mother." No sooner had the words escaped his lips did he get rewarded with the twin looks of horror from his teammates. "What? Don't tell me you couldn't see the family resemblance.."

[to be continued later, heh]

Friendly Writing Challenge, Week 8

Prompt word: Reflection
Fandom: Open.
Focus: Original characters

1) Reflection - Lady Lovelylocks

Friendly Writing Challenge, Week 7

Prompt: Apples
Fandom: ThunderCats

Lion-O rolled the apple about in his hands, clearly lost in thought about something. So much had changed in so little time that it was hard to wrap his brain around it. He went from the unfavorite prince to the leader of what remained of his people and he honestly wasn't sure if he was at all capable. He let out a wearied sigh as he tried to figure out what to do, where to go, who to trust. Trust was such a hard thing to come by these days. His blue-eyed gaze drifted to the latest member of this ragtag group of misfits.

The elfin princess cocked her head in question when she sensed his gaze upon her and she silently padded over, dropping to the ground next to him. "Something troubles you?" she asked.

"A lot of things, Lise," he said quietly. "What if I'm.."

"You are strong enough, Lion-O," Lise said, cutting him off. "A lesser cub would have broken by now, but not you. You're stronger than you give yourself credit for."

Lion-O smiled gratefully at her and leaned over to gently nuzzle her neck, a tentative lick escaping him almost against his will. Hopefully that wouldn't scare her off.

Lise stiffened for a moment at the touch of his tongue on the curve of her neck before her eyes lowered and she visibly relaxed. Definitely was a lion thing. She reached over and gently stroked his mane of red hair.

The apple dropped from his hands and rolled over to Snarf, who promptly grabbed the apple and took off to inhale his treat.

1) X-Men: Lilla/Warren, Professor Xavier

Friendly Writing Challenge, Week 4

Prompt: Sunrise
No attempts at the bonus points
AN: possible spoilers for Daring's storyline [especially given the existence of his mirror's image]

Rosabella pulled her bed jacket closer to her as she made her way silently down the long hallway leading from the girls' dorms to the tower where she knew /he/ was hiding. A tiny sigh escaped her as she walked. Yet another sleepless night worrying about him - she had long since lost count, it had to be in the hundreds now. She paused a moment at hearing the sound of a familiar croak near her feet, and a wry smile crossed her lips. She bent down and gently placed a kiss on the top of his head, before coughing as the pink smoke formed and twisted around the figure of one of her friends. "Hopper," she greeted with cheerful smile.

"Rosie," he returned. "Uh, thanks for the kiss," he said, rubbing the back of his neck.

"No problem. I'll make sure I nudge Briar later," she promised.

"Thanks," Hopper said, a grateful note to his voice. "So, what brings you out this way?"

Rosabella let out a small sigh. "Same thing as last night and the night before that," she admitted.

Hopper nodded. "Here's hoping tonight's a better night."

"Yeah," she said slowly. "Wish me luck."

"I always do," Hopper said and watched as she made her way up the stairs to the tower where he had taken up residence.

-

"Daring?" she called, moving slowly through the mostly destroyed room. Definitely reminded her of that one room back home in the West Wing. Father would be proud, she thought with an amused snort. "Love the decorating." She paused at the rumbles but shook her head. "You're going to have to do better than that," she called. She froze midstep when she saw something looming in the shadows. Oooookay, that was better than the rumbles, she mentally amended. "Okay, that might work," she said.

Daring emerged slowly from the shadows, his massive frame towering over her. "What do you want?" he rumbled.

"I thought maybe we could watch the sunrise together," she said quietly. "It'll mean another night of this is over."

A thoughtful frown crossed his features as best it could before he nodded and slowly extended his paw.

Rosabella smiled and slid her smaller hand into his, allowing him to guide her out onto the balcony. She chanced a move and slid closer to him, snuggling up against him.
